North Area Rush Update

(04.23.09)
As everyone in the soccer community is aware the North Area Rush or NA Rush was created as a result of the Colorado Rush and NASA partnering.  Since the first of the year in 2009, the Colorado Rush have been sharing it’s methodology, brand, intellectual property, programs, services, etc, etc. Why?...well, to put it simple, “to provide the best soccer experience in and around the Thorton Community”.  The players deserve it.  Here is a brief summary of the partnership to date:

School of Excellence
Increases in Numbers and Excitement on Day 2
(04.13.09)
Goals galore were in store for this past Friday at NA Rush’s School of Excellence.  Different finishing techniques were the chore for the day and the Rush players got after it in a big way!  Every player in attendance scored goals on this day.  Again, the session was led by Technical Director, Erik Bushéy and Director of Coaching Developmental, Brian Curry as well as Colorado Rush Director of Coaching Junior Girls, Danny Bills.  Also participating were some of Colorado Rush’s most talented senior youth players.  But the stars on this day were the players who brought a smile on their face, passion in their hearts and goals at the end of their boots!  The next School of Excellence is scheduled for next Friday, April 17 at 5pm at Woodglen Park.  Questions about School of Excellence can be directed to Erik Bushéy at ebushey@coloradorush.com.

Check out some of our future (and current) stars!

School of Excellence a Big Hit! (Or Kick!)

The School of Excellence program has existed in Colorado Rush for many years.  It is a program dedicated to training technique and developing passion for the U8’s, U9’s and U10’s.  It runs on Friday’s throughout the season.  North Area Rush began our School of Excellence this past Friday with NA Rush U10’s.  Directors from surrounding clubs helped out as well as NA Rush Technical Director, Erik Bushéy, NA Rush Director of Developmental, Brian Curry, and Colorado Rush Director of Junior Girls, Danny Bills.  When asked about the session, Danny Bills said, “We were surprised about the quality numbers we saw out here today, but we were not surprised by the talent.  There were some great players playing here today and some passionate ones as well.”  Also helping with instruction were members of Colorado Rush’s top teams all of whom have committed to major colleges.  Paolo DelPiccolo (pictured) has been with the US National Team and is heading to the University of Louisville next year on full scholarship.  The program continues this Friday at Woodglen Park and will begin promptly at 5pm.  Any questions, feel free to email Erik Bushéy at ebushey@coloradorush.com.

Rush Core Values

Dear Rush Membership, as we kick off the 2009 Spring season, the Rush BOD and Staff request you take moment to look at the Rush Core Values by clicking here.  Many good points are addressed here but the one that we would like our membership to pay particular close attention to is respect.

Our 8th Core Value states, Respect:  Respect everyone.  Respect the opponent, the rules, your colleagues, your superiors and subordinates.  Be thoughtful and considerate.

Ironically, the athletes we respect are the athletes that portray respect.  When interviewed, you can see the respect that is given to the game and the opponent.  They put others up instead of putting them down.  These athletes, the LeBron James’, Tiger Woods’, Lionel Messi’s exhibit respect when in the public eye.  We at the Rush should not act any different.  So, Staff, Coaches and Player, let the Rush be known for our professional and respectful behavior on and off the field.

Thank you.  Tim Schulz, President

The Rush Way

The Rush Way is the embodiment of all that is Rush Soccer; the rules and manner in which Rush members hold themselves and how they expect other Rush members to conduct themselves.

This is not inherent in all people, but can be learned. The Rush Way encourages passion, leadership, respect and, above all, quality.

In no way will the Rush Way be implemented over night, but in time the Rush Way will prevail and prove fruitful.

Please click here for a summation of the Rush Way. It is by no means all inclusive, but enough to provide an idea of what it means to wear the Rush colors and be part of the best.

NA Rush seeks Director of Coaching, please click here to see the job description.

The Board of Directors and Rush Soccer have mutually agreed to hire a Director of Coaching for the North Area Rush Soccer Club (formerly NASA).  “This is a big step for the NA Rush.  Last night at the NA Rush B.O.D. meeting we agreed to move forward with the first hire to be a Director of Coaching,” said Tim Schulz, President of the Colorado Rush   The Rush has been through this process many times, 22 times to be exact. The Rush has 22 partners across the Untied States and is not a novice in club development.  The Rush has 33,000 members across the country and has made a tremendous impact on each community they have touched.

“We are on the same page.  I will begin my search immediately, and, yes, I will not limit my search to Colorado residents only.  The success of any club is established and determined by its leaders.  We will be sure to conduct our search with due diligence and hire the best qualified person,” said Erik Bushéy, Technical Director of the Colorado Rush.

The Rush has been commissioned to post a Position Description by Friday of this week regarding requirements, skill sets, etcetera.  The hiring of this person will act as the “C.E.O.” of the NA Rush.  This person will be the “boss” on taking this club to the next level with the help and guidance of the Rush.  This process is to begin immediately.   Stay tuned for more details.

We are pleased to announce that NASA has become a branch of the nationally recognized Rush Soccer Club.  Thornton has joined cities like Houston, Kansas City, Memphis, Tucson, Colorado Springs, Albuquerque, and Virginia Beach to become part of the Littleton based organization.

Rush Soccer brings immediate National Club identity to the soccer culture in the Thornton area, with their instant credibility.  The Professional Staff of RUSH will implement their Philosophy, Methodology, Coaching services, and Playing opportunities, to the North Metro Area players.

The Board of Directors and President, Mark Iverson saw this as a great opportunity that will offer the best and most positive soccer playing experience for current and future North Area Rush soccer players.  “Your child’s soccer journey has now reached a new level here at the North Area Rush Soccer Club.” As quoted by Mark.

“I am excited about getting the folks up in the Thornton area involved in the Rush Way.  I expect us to have a tremendous impact on the North Area players, their development and their overall soccer enjoyment,” said Erik Bushey, Technical Director for the Colorado Rush.

U10 G Opt.1 Academy Black - Took 2nd Place in the CYS Cup.

The Explosion Academy Black team took 2nd place on Oct. 5th at the Colorado Youth Soccer Cup.  They won  3 preliminary games in the Option 1 Bronze division with three shut outs (4-0, 2-0, 3-0).  The biggest victory coming against the Storm North girls who use to be part of NASA.  Their only loss came in the Championship game to the Westminster Angels (3-0), thus giving them a second place finish.  Some tears were shed by the girls but everyone had smiles on their faces after Mark treated them to some Ice cream after the game.

The U10 G Pink Panthers also had an awesome weekend at the CYS Cup.  Finishing 2nd in their division.  We are proud of both of your teams, first for taking the initiative to participate in a state tournament, and secondly for giving it their all to play their best, showing their club spirit and have a good time doing it.  Way to go!!
