(03.09.10) Auxerre Win Again, Ready for Bordeaux ![]() AJ Auxerre have rattled off their third straight win with a 1-0 victory over Valenciennes over the weekend. With the win, Auxerre have 48 points and are tied for 5th place with Lille in Ligue 1 with a game in hand. Ireneusz Jelen scored his team leading 7th goal in the win. Auxerre will take on league leading Bordeaux on Wednesday. AJA upended the current French leaders 1-0 in October, the very same weekend that the partnership with Rush Soccer was announced. Bonne chance AJA! Rush Announces New Boys Uniform (02.23.10) Rush Soccer along with our partners Nike and Eursport, have decided upon the new design for the 2010 Boy's Uniform. Please click here for details and pictures of the new kits. Rush International Expansion (02.22.10) Rush Continues International Expansion The Rush started its international expansion with the creation of the Nkomazi Rush located approximately five hours east of Johannesburg. The Nkomazi Rush is currently registering 3,000 plus athletes classified in two age groups, the U14 boys and the U18 boys, with a few girls teams sprinkled in the mix. The area is packed with raw talent. The Nkomazi Rush will be provided with uniforms and other equipment for these players in August of 2010. “Bien Venue” to our friends in France. This past Fall in November of 2009, the Rush announced its partnership with the miracle club AJ Auxerre of the French First Division. The goal is to create a long lasting partnership to establish coaching exchanges, formation of select teams for tournament participation, player development, brand awareness for both parties and most important, to find that one special player that can break into the AJ Auxerre first team. To ring in the new year, we opened up a new club in Africa; Ghana Rush. This community is thriving with raw talent. One of these players will be brought to our previously mention European partner AJ Auxerre for a tryout. Togo Rush was created in February of 2010, similar to the Ghana Rush, rich in talent and needy of resources. Our latest two clubs, Gambia Rush and Senegal Rush, will be directed by Omar Sise. These two countries are not unfamiliar in creating talent. Both countries have players playing in most of the top leagues in the world.
What is the Rush up to and why would we do this? Many reasons: 1) This a good thing to do. We have the resources and they certainly have the need. The R.E.A.C.H. Program (Rush Equipment Assisting Children) will be launching an unprecedented collection of used uniforms to ship to our sister clubs previously mentioned. 2) The Rush Brand will be spread internationally. 3) Perhaps, no we will, stimulate their respective community by signing a young talent to a U.S. or European based club. Most youth clubs that produce young talents receive financial benefits for their development of these young talents. 4) Bring young players to America for opportunities they do not receive in their respective countries, i.e. college education. We are the Rush, we are, we are, we are the Rush!Ask The Doc (02.22.10) ![]() What is a strain and how long does it take to heal? Dr. Douglas A. Auxerre Back on Winning Track (12.28.09) The consensus surprise club this season in the French Ligue 1 is AJ Auxerre who, after defeating Marseille 2-0 in front of 50,000 on Wednesday, sit in fifth place with 32 points. Bordeaux is running away from the pack leading the way with 43 points but Auxerre are just two points out of second place heading into the Christmas holiday. Against Marseille, a team many figured to challenge for the league title, AJA took the lead just before halftime when Dennis Oliech finished a crossed ball for the 1-0 lead. In the second half AJA goalkeeper Oliver Sorin made several key saves and Oliech put the game out of reach scoring again in the 79th minute. Auxerre will now take a three week break from league play before starting back up on Saturday, January 16 when they host Boulogne. The two teams played to a scoreless draw in late August. Prior to league play starting back up, Auxerre will play SC Amiens in the Coupe De France on Friday, January 8. |

Rush Headed to 2010 World Cup! (10.12.09) ![]() AND SO IS THE UNITED STATES! Thanks to the foot (and head) of Conor Casey, the U.S. defeated a previously unbeaten (at home) Honduras team supported by more than 45,000 fanatics. The U.S. battled a tough opponent, a raucous crowd and some sketchy officiating to win 3-2. After the U.S. conceded a free kick goal in the 46th minute (due to sloppy play by Oguchi Onyewu), Conor headed in the first of his two goals by out jumping and out battling the Honduran goal keeper. Conor's willingness to put his body in harms way made the difference. Ten minutes later, Conor would net his second after taking a slipped pass by Landon Donovan on the sprint and then calmly tucked the ball into the side netting for a 2-1 lead. Five minutes later Conor would keep possession and earn the foul that was converted by Donovan for a 3-1 lead. Honduras would score a second goal (though there was a hint of offsides leading up to the goal) in the 78th minute. When a penalty kick was called in the 87th minute, it seemed a tie was in the cards and what a cruel result that would have been. The U.S.'s Stuart Holden was whistled for a handball in the box. Carlos Pavon, who converted a penalty against the U.S. on Sept. 1, 2001, in Washington, D.C., in the last U.S. loss on home soil - missed the chance to equalize. The U.S. dealt with the onslaught over the next six minutes until the final whistle blew. The U.S. had qualified for the World Cup! With Conor's amazing performance, he (and thus Rush) has solidified his position with the U.S. National Team as they now prepare for South Africa! Congratulations Conor!! U15 Nike Girls Take First at Trebol Shoot Out (10.06.09) ![]() After going through the first three games of the tournament with two wins and one loss, the girls went into the final as the number 1 seed on 21 points and left them with a rematch of the CO United Blue team who were on 20 points. This would set up a rematch for the championship against the CO United team who they had lost to. The finals went 0-0 through regulation and the two 5 minute overtimes which sent them into a shootout. Their opponent went first and placed 2 of the 5 in the net. The girls scored 2 out of the first 4 which left the tenth shooter, our last shooter, Kelsie Hill, a win-it-all shot and she buried it for the win. |

Act on Your Dreams - Defining Perseverance (09.17.09) ![]() The Santa Clara Women's soccer team is once again a force to be reckoned with in College Soccer. After a rough season last year, the Broncos have started off this season in a big way including upsets of two top 10 teams last weekend. Santa Clara upset No. 5 Notre Dame 2-0 Friday night and followed that up with a 3-1 win over No. 7 Purdue on Sunday. Santa Clara's emergence (5-2-2) back into the national picture is due, in no small part, to the return of Colorado Rush Alum Jordan Angeli. Jordan, a sixth year senior, had spent the last 2 years at Santa Clara rehabbing her knee. A healthy Jordan is clearly paying dividends on the field. Please click here to read the full interview. |
